The Trailblazers – Elders Panel

The rights that the LGBTIQ+ community have today are because of the fierce strength and advocacy of our elders. And these trailblazers still have not given up the fight.

Tristan Meecham of All The Queens Men will sit down with LBGTIQ+ icons, Brian Day OAM and Jill Bolen to discusses the changes that have happened over the decades, discrimination then and now, and what else there is to fight for.

Brian Day was a founding member of the Brisbane branch of CAMP (Campaign Against Moral Persecution), a member of the Gay Activists Alliance and founding member of Camp Club, the first LGBTIQ+ social club all established in Brisbane both in the early 1970s.

Jill Bolen is the first women to achieve the ranks of Chief Superintendent in Queensland. Jill’s rise through the ranks of the police force during Joh Bjelke-Petersen’s time in power attests to her own personal resilience.
