The Silent Artist: Patrick Phillips

The Silent Artist: Patrick Phillips

Patrick Phillips is a very accomplished deaf painter from North West Queensland and Deaf Services is excited to be hosting an intimate session with him to find out more about his life, his art and how his deafness has influenced him.

Patrick will be speaking to community members at a free community talk during the Deaf Art Show so come along to find out more and see a selection of his work that will be on display.

While recovering from a motorcycle accident a friend gave Patrick a piece of masonite, brushes and oil paints and he has never looked back.

His style and technique have continued to develop since his first oil painting of a gum tree at age 15, and Patrick has a list of achievements and accolades from competitions and exhibitions across Australia.

In 2011, Patrick exhibited over 30 paintings at a solo exhibition in Toowoomba titled ‘Visions of Silence’ and in the same year won Grand Champion at the Fraser Coast Show.
