Music has been described as a ‘refuge from the tyranny of thought’. For those who seek refuge of any kind, music is one of the great escapes.

A free event, The Refuge of Rhythm features collaborations between the best of Brisbane’s world music and visual artists, creating a rich tapestry of innovative performances.

The vibrant music program is complimented by visuals including projected imagery, contemporary dance, calligraphy art and shadow puppetry, featuring the talents of  Geoff Fabila, Tashi Lhunpo Monks of Tibet, Takako Nishibori, Phill Wilson, Nicholas Ng, Jan Baker-Finch, Mozhdeh Khakbaz, Efiq Zulfiqar, Efendi Jaenudin, Agustinus Jogiyono, Tenzin Choegyal and Katherine Philp.
