The Pillowman

The Pillowman

Comedies don’t come any blacker than this.  Thrilling, thought provoking, horrific and hilarious! The Pillowman is a gripping and wickedly funny black comedy, by acclaimed Irish playwright/screenwriter Martin McDonagh (Seven Psychopaths, In Bruges).

Set in a Police interrogation room in a totalitarian state, a writer is questioned over the content of some short stories, which bear an uncanny similarity to real-life murders of children.

This provocative and thoroughly entertaining piece uses razor sharp, rapid-fire dialogue to explore themes such as oppression, control and censorship.

This dense content is dealt with in a very clever and masterful way, using comedy and a form of modern absurdism, to have the audience laughing hysterically at the most inappropriate of times.
