The Motorcycle Up Late
Don your best leather jacket and denim jeans – The Motorcycle Up Late is the perfect evening haven for lovers of motorcycles and music. It all kicks off on Friday March 19 with a rock-and-roll set from The Hi-Boys, followed by lush melodies courtesy of indie-pop singer-songwriter Tia Gostelow and a dazzling stage takeover by Brisbane punk outfit WAAX. Saturday revs up the action with all-female punk four-piece VOIID and Tweed-based Gudjinburra rapper JK-47. The cherry on top of the decadent line-up comes in the form of a one-of-a-kind set from Australian rocker Tex Perkins, joined by Jez Mead, Lucie Thorne and Christian Pyle.
Alongside the roster of riveting concerts, event-goers will be able to immerse themselves in the rich memorabilia showcased in GOMA’s The Motorcycle: Design, Art, Desire exhibition well into the night. Bike enthusiasts and engine addicts can also get a behind-the-scenes look into some monster machines thanks to Brisbane-based motorcycle custom shop Ellaspede, which will be hosting a pop-up motorcycle experience that gives a close and personal look at the custom design process and some of their unique bikes. If that’s not enough excitement for rev-heads and revellers, you can also hop to GOMA’s cinema for a special screening of The Great Escape on Sunday March 21, as part of GOMA’s jam-packed Motorcycles on Screen program.
