The Living History Project: A Moment in Time

The Living History Project: A Moment in Time

The Living History Project: A Moment in Time is a site-specific installation that brings together members of Brisbane’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and creates a space for them to acknowledge another person’s impact on their life: positive or negative, big or small, known or unknown. A moment in time can change everything. One selfless action, one solitary conversation, one small pebble can create ripples in a person’s life story that often goes unrecognised. These moments are often held close to our hearts, and rarely shared with the person who inspired, challenged or through their actions, changed our legacy forever.

The Living History Project: A Moment in Time is free entry and is held as part of Clancestry 2015, running from Monday November 30 to Sunday December 6 at various locations within the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. Clancestry 2015, a Celebration of Country is an annual week-long festival celebrating the arts and cultural practices of the world’s First Nations Peoples, with a particular focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. The festival draws on rich spiritual culture and provides a space to learn about, and connect with, clan groups across the country and the globe. In presenting performances, workshops, free events and conversations, the festival celebrates a diverse and stimulating mix of the traditional and contemporary. See online for the full program.
