The King is Dead – Queensland Poetry Festival Satellite Event

The King is Dead – Queensland Poetry Festival Satellite Event

Who said the King is Dead? Come see why so many claim hip-hop is the new poetry, as fresh beats and words from the street hit the deck at the Judy.

A night of local and international Hip-Hop featuring Australian Poetry Slam Champion Omar Musa (Here Come the Dogs) with DJ Discrete Pete, Brisbane’s own politicised-funk-machine Rivermouth, NZ beatboxer Hope One (Honey Brown Burlesque) and C.R. Avery (Canada) in beat-box hip-hop mode, a special ground breaking performance by the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts (ACPA) with the 2015 Arts Queensland Poet in Residence Kate Durbin, and your host with the most spinning vinyl and heads, MC Busty Beatz.

Celebrating its 19th year, the Queensland Poetry Festival: Language is a Virus, is set to be another fantastic weekend of spoken word, music and performance from Friday August 28 to Sunday August 30. Featuring a range of poets and artists from all across Australia and the world, this 3 day event will showcase exciting collaborations, book launches, music, workshops, performances and so much more. Head to the Queensland Poetry Festival website to view the full program of events and additional Satellite Events.
