Let’s face it – Tea is the new black. It’s trendy, it’s good for you and better yet, it tastes awesome.

No longer Nanna’s drink, tea is fast becoming the beverage of choice for many who prefer the taste and health benefits that it offers. Yet, how well do you know your oolong from your green?

In this short course we will take you on a journey to discover:

– The botanical origins: What is tea? An overview of tea families and key growing regions. Understanding the differences between specialty loose-leaf, artisanal and single-origin.
– Health benefits: In amongst all the media hype – what does the current research suggest are the health benefits and how much caffeine are you consuming?
– Global culture and rituals: A look across cultures, different ceremonies across the world and elements we can draw upon in creating our own rituals.
– Preparation and brewing styles: Western brewing vs Gong Fu Cha style brewing. A demonstration of Gong Fu Cha brewing and an opportunity to taste teas brewed in this method during our tea evaluation.
– The amazing aromas and flavours : A hands on opportunity to evaluate 5 teas from the major families including white, green, oolong, black and pure.

You will be guided through the intricacies of cupping tea using all of your senses.
