The John Reeves Trio + NEQ will perform a unique midday Monday event set to lift your soul. Ditch the Monday blues and head to the Queen Street Mall Main Stage for a performance like no other. This free event is held in conjunction with the Brisbane International Jazz Festival.

John’s compositions reflect a colourful journey in music. From classical beginnings at The Royal College of Music, to the London Jazz scene, and since 2003 a consistent performing career in Australia.

Africa called, and on a ‘Professional Development Grant’ from Arts Queensland in 2007, John studied drum, dance and song in Ghana, West Africa. He has returned almost full circle to this latest set of compositions, using Jazz as the medium it has always been to marry the sophistication of western harmony with the rhythm and heart of African music. This is improvised music to lift the soul. The John Reeves Trio includes long term, eminent cohorts, Andrew Shaw on Double Bass and Paul Hudson on Drums.

The Brisbane International Jazz Festival has proudly unveiled its 2015 program, bringing together some of the finest talents in the genre from Norway, Poland, South Korea, Japan and more, as well as showcasing the best in home grown talent for the festival which takes over various locations in Brisbane from Wednesday June 3 to Monday June 8.
