The Duke

Direct from the UK, The Duke by Shôn Dale-Jones is a semi-autobiographical tale of Shôn, his mum, and their complex relationship with a china figure of the Duke of Wellington that his late Dad bought, cherished, and kept in a shoe-box under the bed.

A funny, poignant and playful, this one-man show weaves together the tragi-comic fate of a family heirloom, the quandary of a scriptwriter stretching his integrity and an unfolding disaster as thousands of children flee their homes. Blending fantasy and reality, this playful show gently challenges our priorities in a world full of crisis.

The Duke received The Scotsman’s Fringe First Award in Edinburgh in 2016 and has been produced in aid of the Save the Children’s Child Refugee Crisis Appeal.

“…engaging and complex, existing somewhere between truth and fiction, drama and radio, fantasy and reality. Dale-Jones is a natural and immediately likable storyteller” **** The List
