Sunnybank’s Year of the Monkey Celebrations

One of Brisbane’s biggest Chinese New Year celebrations has officially begun today at Sunnybank, marking the beginning of a five-day extravaganza of colour, flair, and of course delicious food at Sunnybank Plaza and Sunny Park! Sunnybank’s Year of the Monkey celebrations boast something for everyone with activities planned for families, foodies and those looking to observe a traditional Chinese New Year.

The event will have everything from Kung Fu and Lion Dancing, to Feng Shui consultations, Tai Chi demonstrations, ice carving, Chinese calligraphy and for the kids – craft workshops to make your own monkey mask. But of course, when it comes to Chinese New Year, enjoying food with family and friends is an important cultural and culinary tradition!

Sunnybank is renowned as a destination for some of Brisbane’s most authentic Asian restaurants and food outlets, with Sunnybank Plaza and Sunny Park at its epicentre. Chinese New Year provides the perfect opportunity for families and friends to come together and welcome in the Year of the Monkey with a traditional Asian feast at 50+ dine in or takeaway restaurants and boutique Asian fresh food outlets located across the centres.

Sunnybank Plaza’s award winning Food Discovery Tours will also be running daily this weekend – led by experienced chef Tony Ching. The tours will showcase the best places to eat, drink and shop for fresh Asian food in Sunnybank Plaza, and conclude with an authentic Asian meal. Tickets for the food tours are usually $68 per person, discounted to a special Chinese New Year price of just $50.
