Finally, this iconic treat is getting the recognition it deserves at King Street’s Strawberry Sundae Light Up, where a permanent strawberry-inspired installation will be unveiled in its honour.

Oh, did we mention that you could also get the chance to devour that sweet, creamy goodness early this year? For one night only, King Street will host a strawberry sundae pop-up event – some 250 free sundaes will be served up to the Brisbane public, with coveted places at the event available through The Weekend Edition’s special competition.

The sweet treats will be dished out in conjunction with the unveiling of the brand-new art installation that pays homage to the Ekka’s most famous treat – a breathtaking work created in collaboration with Creative Industries’ (CI) students from the Queensland University of Technology.
