Southern Cross Soloists Dreams and Visions

Southern Cross Soloists Dreams and Visions

Dreams and Visions will collide in Southern Cross Soloists’ (SXS) concert of musical portraits taken from the innermost imaginations of some of the greatest composers.

A kaleidoscope of colours and imagery will be expressed in works that include Vivaldi’s Spanish-flavoured oboe concerto, Bruch’s exotic Jewish-inspired Kol Nidrei, Berlioz’s viola masterpiece portraying a dreamer protagonist wandering through the mountains, Debussy’s sensuous dreamlike vision of nymphs through a faun’s eyes, and the Greece of Ravel’s dreams in his suite from Daphnis and Chloe.

A major highlight will be a new work by Hollywood-based Queensland composer Joe Twist for SXS and didgeridoo, that takes inspiration from the atmospheric paintings of the ancient Gondwana Rainforest of Springbrook National Park by acclaimed artist William Robinson.
