Sourdough Basics Workshop

Sourdough Basics Workshop

Baking sourdough is a valuable traditional skill that results in beautiful, high quality, and seriously delicious bread. To learn to bake your own is an affordable alternative to purchasing artisan loaves, which can be a costly habit, and offers a deeper connection to your food.

This is a fun and down-to-earth workshop, where no question is too basic. Whether you’ve never baked before, or have dabbled in the world of sourdough, this workshop is for you.

Leah of Living Sourdough will share her knowledge and teach you about sourdough starter culture, how to develop the bread structure and flavour, and how to achieve that classic sourdough crust; all in an approachable manner.

Come away with all you need to make real sourdough bread…
– thorough hands-on practice with making sourdough
– one logical recipe to follow
– an understanding of what equipment to use
– a folder with recipes and resources

Meet the Facilitator – Leah Hutchinson
A dedicated ‘foodie’ and obsessive home cook for over thirty years, Leah has now fallen hard for the handsome allure of sourdough, along with fermented foods in general. Baking between 60 and 100 loaves a week in her humble home kitchen, Leah designed this workshop to share her methods and enable the home cook to achieve their own real, artisan bread (for only a couple of dollars a loaf!). Her small business is called ‘Living Sourdough’.
