Soirées Musicales Quintette
This enterprising Brisbane-based chamber ensemble performs delightful vocal works by composers from the nineteenth century, including Schumann, Brahms, Schubert, Massenet and Rossini.
Performed in sumptuous heritage venues such as Old Government House, the music of Soirées Musicales Quintette evokes a magical nostalgia, while also bringing fresh life to rarely-heard repertoire.
Continuing our exploration of the partsong repertoire, we present another set of Brahms quartets, and for the first time we present some Russian music. Framing these selections will be highlights from Beethoven’s extensive collections of folksongs from the British Isles, scored for voices and ensemble of piano, violin and cello.
