Signs and Sea Creatures: Family Event

Signs and Sea Creatures: Family Event

Hear for Kids is hosting an imaginative, sensory craft activity titled ‘Signs and Sea Creatures’ as part of this year’s Deaf Art Show in Brisbane. The event will be led by Occupational Therapists and encourages children of varying ages to use everyday items to play and create as well as develop their fine motor and visual perception skills.

This event will be running in partnership with Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) who will be hosting a trial of upcoming APT9 Kids project ‘Illuminate’ by APT9 artist Nona Garcia. This hands-on activity encourages children to create patterns and designs by rearranging X-ray images of sea coral and animal bones.

There will be Auslan Storytelling throughout the morning of the book ‘Commotion in the Ocean’ by Giles Andreae.

There will be an interpreter so this will be fully accessible for deaf and hearing children and their parents.
