Brisbane City Opera summons music lovers to West End to launch an exciting 2018 season. Brisbane City Opera are a company of emerging professional singers, offering the audiences of Brisbane opera up-close, storytelling intimacy and timeless music rejuvenated by the youth of its performers. 2017 saw the company’s momentum and acclaim accelerate, with several sold out shows and events, to a consistently fantastic reception.

Saturday, April 14th sees Brisbane City Opera’s 2018 Season Launch Party hosted within the earthy yet otherworldly spaces of The Sideshow. Celebrate with the growing company as they unveil upcoming events on their highly anticipated 2018 program.

Enjoy a uniquely intimate and immersive presentation of classical music with the candour and personality Brisbane City Opera proudly boasts. The afternoon will feature highlights of the operatic repertoire, in a fun and relaxed suburban hub. Expect to hear from beloved operas such as Carmen, Marriage of Figaro, Rigoletto, and Romeo et Juliette, alongside some underrated yet rousing arias and choruses. The performers include Josh White, Oliver Boyd, Tom Holownia, Kathryn O’Halloran, Kate Joy Stuart, Melissa Gregory, and accompanist Mark Connors. All are Queensland Conservatorium students or graduates on the cusp of burgeoning careers or already hitting their strides as worthy soloists.

Bring a pillow, rug or camping chair and cosy up in the artistic atrium of The Sideshow’s warehouse venue. The event is BYO with eskys available, and audiences are welcome to enjoy morsels and beverages from the Sideshow café.

Tickets are $35. Doors open at 1:30 pm for the event to kick off at 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Come and support these trailblazing young artists as they work to broaden Brisbane’s cultural palates, spotlighting fresh talent and manifesting innovation upon a stage like you’d never expect.
