From Saturday June 1 to Sunday June 30, the region’s restaurants, farms, breweries and food businesses will unite to host 120 mouth-watering events for Scenic Rim Eat Local Month – the largest offering in the event’s 13 years. With the program now a month long, there is a smorgasbord of sumptuous events for foodies of all ages to feast on.
There are more than 120 food events from Beaudesert to Beechmont, Kerry to Kalbar and Mount Alford to Tamborine Mountain including 40 long lunches, degustations and dinners, 23 workshops and classes, 37 tours and experiences, 53 meet-the-producer opportunities and more than 50 family-friendly options. The program also includes over 50 new or redesigned events. As if in a wonderful endorsement by Mother Nature, there are five full weekends in June this year, meaning more flavour experiences for everyone!
Not sure where to start?
Kick off your Eat Local Month adventure on the first weekend (June 1–2) by visiting the picturesque towns and villages of Canungra, Tamborine Mountain and Beechmont for hands-on workshops and classes, lazy long lunches, winery tours, producer markets and so much more!
Journey into the second weekend (June 6–9), where you’ll discover fertile lands, expansive paddocks and charming country towns of Boonah, Kalbar, Harrisville, Roadvale and Mount Alford. Meet the farmers, hand pick produce from the ground and enjoy chef-hatted dining experiences!
The third weekend (June 14-16), serves up more long lunches, flavour-filled dinners and hands-on workshops across the region. Relish in some good ol’ country hospitality at the annual Scenic Rim Clydesdale Spectacular. Giddy up to Boonah and celebrate all things Clydesdale with the interstate showcase, equine art and country craftsmanship.
On the fourth weekend (June 21-23), explore the heart of the Scenic Rim where ancient rainforests meet paddocks. Discover charming small towns where you can experience the hospitality of big-hearted locals. There’s on-farm workshops and tours, and long lunches and flavour-filled dinners against some of the most breathtaking backdrops across the region. You can also visit local wineries like The Overflow Estate 1895 and Barney Creek Vineyard Cottages for a tipple and a taste of true paddock-to-plate goodness.
Save the best for last! Mark your calendars for the last weekend (June 28–30) as the charming country town of Kalbar comes alive for the Winter Harvest Festival and a program of harvest festivities! What a way to wrap-up Eat Local Month.
