Rythmology

Rhythmology swings into Brisbane for one night only with an immersive and dynamic showcase of drag, live music and street dance, in an eclectic RnB setting.

You can expect an infectious playlist with entertainment featuring local drag legends Thicc Shake Crew, dancers from Brisbane’s pioneering vogue house The House of Alexander, and vocal sensation Garret Lyon.

A celebration of the diversity of ethnic cultures, Rhythmology will explore the evolution and variation of rhythm and blues, a subculture that was birthed in African American communities and has taken root in ethnic cultures the world over.

Rhythmology will be a wildly entertaining night of brown showmanship that proudly puts those urbanised cultures and their creatives at the forefront, reclaiming space.

Rhythmology is an inclusive celebration of Urban music and its many facets and expressions throughout our community, from its history, its sensuality, through its femininity and its masculinity, to its classic trail blazers and its expression of resilience and freedom in the ethnic queer community.

This project is supported by the Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland, and is facilitated by Backbone Youth Arts, Young Producers Program.
