Roy Martin and Daevid Anderson showcase their contemporary interpretations of traditional still life painting.

Roy Martin playfully juxtaposes the banality of everyday scenes with seemingly out of place objects – magnifying their scale they become looming and foreboding. We are compelled to examine these objects in their new context to uncover hidden layers of meaning and humour.

Daevid Anderson constructs simple frameworks for his still life arrangements – suspending various household items with twine; confining them in a box; or lining them up on a shelf.
The relationships between these objects, often toys or other household collectables, and their surroundings provides an opportunity to create mini narratives within a fun, crisp and contemporary (almost) trompe l’oeil image.
