Robert Andrew scrapes back the skin on a personal indigenous history in his upcoming exhibition at Spiro Grace Art Rooms (SGAR) opening Saturday April 16. Walking the line between old and new he explores his identity and history with the use of contemporary technology. Water, ochre, and oxide dominate his choice of materials as he combines the personal and the local with the global technological narrative. Andrew’s work uncovers, reveals and re-presents aspects in Australian indigenous history that have been previously hidden, distorted and denied.
