Return to the Dirt

Return to the Dirt

Steve is 25 years old, cashless, jobless and back living with his parents in his hometown of Toowoomba. Desperately needing to save for his wedding, his quarter-life crisis takes new heights when the only job he can secure is tending to the dead as a funeral director. Not really the career of his dreams. Return to the Dirt is a recital from playwright Steve Pirie of this lived experience, which tells the story of the year he spent working among the dead. Superbly directed by Queensland Theatre’s artistic director Lee Lewis, the show will take you on an emotive and surprisingly uplifting journey that will encourage you to face some of life’s biggest questions. Through honesty and wit, the story not only helps demystify the process and the business of dying but will make you really think about how you want to live … what really matters to you in the precious time you have now?

Return to the Dirt is coming to Bille Brown Theatre from October 16 to November 6. Grab your tickets at the Queensland Theatre website.
