Reclink Community Cup

Reclink Community Cup

The iconic charity event series, Reclink Community Cup, returns to Brisbane on Sunday, July 28 at its now established home ground of Enoggera Memorial Park, promising another great day of community, fundraising, live music and a grassroots Aussie rules footy match for the ages, featuring the Rocking Horses (Brisbane musicians) taking on their arch rivals the Brisbane Lines (Brisbane media/music industry)!

While footy is the star on the day, music is also a massive part of the festivities and Reclink is thrilled to announced that the day will also feature live performances from some of Brisbane’s most exciting up-and-coming acts, including rising Brisbane rockers Full Flower Moon Band, Betty Taylor and S.A.B.

Each year a genre-smashing array of Brisbane musicians come together to form the Rocking Horses, a fearsome and match-hardened unit including familiar faces from acts such as Powderfinger/The Church, Birds Of Tokyo, Tape/Off, Nice Biscuit, First Beige, Whalehouse, Flamingo Blonde, Shag Rock, Mitch, Please and many more.

Donning the red and white are the Brisbane Lines, a motley ensemble of 4ZZZ stalwarts, ABC Sport and Rebel FM staffers and music industry workers drafted from Dew Process, Gyrostream, QMusic, The Princess Theatre and Incremental Records (to name but a few of the many organisations represented in the big clash).

On top of this now deeply-entrenched rivalry, the Brisbane Reclink Community Cup is a laid back event with plenty of family-friendly entertainment on offer for the many non-participants who attend each year. As well as the unforgettable football match and cutting-edge live music you’ll be able to enjoy AFLQ-hosted activities for kids, bars, food trucks and a relaxed atmosphere that firmly emphasises community over football and team spirit over individual skills.

This year’s theme Insufficient Funds (named after a track by much-loved Melbourne garage-rockers Eddy Current Suppression Ring) marks 31 years since the Community Cup started in Melbourne. A key fixture on the Reclink calendar, matches are today played all across the country with Brisbane in 2024 celebrating 9 years of fundraising as part of the national event.
