In the 6 weeks between Malcolm Turnbull announcing that he would conduct a postal survey on equal marriage, and the announcement of the survey result on November 15, Quinn Eades wrote and published seven pieces of writing in The Lifted Brow.

A poet, writer, and academic, Eades made a commitment to write as much as could during this time. He wanted to capture the lived realities of queer and trans people and families as they waited for a result; namely his own, and those of his friends. Each piece began with the title ‘I can’t stop crying…’, and all of them hit a nerve with readers.
