Honourable Prime Minister of Tibet in conversation with Paul Barclay

A rare opportunity to hear the Honourable Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay, Prime Minister of the Tibetan Government-in-exile speak about his vision for Tibet.

We live in a fast-changing world – Brexit in the EU, Trump in America, the rise of China and growing threats to Climate stability. More than ever before, values such as democracy, freedom, environmental and human rights should be upheld. The Tibet issue symbolises justice, non-violence and freedom. What are the challenges facing the Tibetan struggle? How can we maintain optimism for positive change?

In 2011, Dr. Lobsang Sangay became the first democratically-elected political leader of the Tibetan people in their history. Despite what Dr. Sangay himself acknowledges as ‘a high level of anxiety amongst Tibetans’ at His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s decision to withdraw from politics, he has gone on to win the confidence of the Tibetan people and was re-elected during a general election in 2016.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear from Dr. Sangay as he speaks about his vision for Tibet with Paul Barclay, presenter and series producer of Big Ideas on ABC RN.
