Picnic for Peace commemorates the centenary of the end of the First World War. The State Library of Queensland will host the event with a day of food, entertainment and films for the whole family. Take part in one minute’s silence at 11:00 am. Pause, reflect and pay respects to the brave men and women who have served, sacrificed and suffered so we can enjoy the freedom we have today.

There will be performances from the Birralee Singers, the South Brisbane Federal Band (The Feds), Tim Jackman, a live reading of Elaine Acworth’s My Father’s Wars and more. Guided conservation tours and fun interactive children’s activities will happen throughout the day.

Picnic for Peace is part of Q ANZAC 100: Memories for a New Generation, a joint initiative between the Queensland Government and the Anzac Centenary Public Fund. Other events in the program include The Long Tail of War Symposium, and the Black Diggers Film Screening.
