Panel Discussion on Political Paradox

Panel Discussion on Political Paradox

Join Dr David Fenton for an evening of witty debate and robust panel discussion looking at some big and often controversial questions posed to the queer community.

Hosted by scholar, artist and former director of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Dr David Fenton, this performative lecture will include a panel representing Queer experts from the arts to politics to help tease out the paradox of our queer political positions.

By seeking ‘mainstream rights’ are we eradicating the last legal blocks to what makes us unequal?

By seeking ‘mainstream rights’ are we abandoning what makes us different and radical?

Can we hold these two positions at the same time? Must we choose?

This event is part of MELT: A Celebration of Queer Arts and Culture and Brisbane Queer Film Festival 2015.
