The city will light up green this St Patrick’s Day, with pipe bands, green top hats and Irish dancers raising their Guinness to the launch of Brisbane’s largest full-swing festival, Paddyfest on Saturday March 16. There’s four exciting new zones to explore this year – Paddyfest Central, O’Donoghue’s Ale House, Little Leprechauns Kids Zone, and Food & Wine Lane.
A packed program of traditional Irish song and dance will kick off from 11:00 am, creating a boisterous atmosphere of entertainment all day and night. Rally your Guinness loving mates and head to the Main Stage for classic rock & folk, or O’Donoghue’s Ale House for soloist ballads. And of course, the traditional Pipe Band & Irish Dancers are back to have you dancing the jig! This year acts include, Kingswood, Tullamore Tree, Tartan Shamrock, Shannon Watkins Band, City of Brisbane Pipe Band, Walker’s Irish Dancers and Leprechaun DJ.
Paddyfest 2019 program boasts a bunch of treats for foodie’s! Food lovers will be salivating in all the new Food & Wine Lane. For those looking for something a little fancy, head to the Food & Wine Lane featuring cheese and charcuterie boards, wine tastings and pop-up bars with flair!
A stop off to the Diddly Dee Food Truck is a must! Prepare your tastebuds for authentic Irish dishes that are the best thing since sliced potato! Enjoy corned beef, braised pies, potato 100 ways and so much more.
If Irish food is not what you’re after on this day, then you can pair your Guinness with a pizza, burrito or other international flavour at one of the many food trucks on offer. A list of the food trucks will be published soon – so you can start planning your Paddyfest culinary journey. Like the Paddyfest Brisbane Facebook page or Instagram page for updates.
Held at the heritage-listed Eagle Farm Racecourse, the event will be the largest of its kind in Brisbane and promised ‘good beer and great craic’ in its first year celebrating all things Irish – beer, food, culture and entertainment.
