Opera Queensland Under The Stars
Gather your mates, roll out a rug and prepare for a night of musical magic underneath the moonlight as Opera Queensland perform a very special Under The Stars concert at Riverstage.
The spellbinding showcase will see ten luminary principal artists will take to the stage alongside a mighty 60-strong Opera Queensland Chorus, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and a choir of young singers from Yeronga State High School.
The concert will be hosted by baritone Jason Barry-Smith, and will feature the beautiful voices of José Carbó, Eva Kong, Samuel Piper, Xenia Puskarz Thomas, Hayley Sugars, Sofia Troncoso and Kang Wang. The talented array of stars will be working with maestro Dane Lam to bring concert-goers some stellar musical picks from much-loved operas. You’ll be enchanted by a popular program of songs including Mozart’s Letter Duet, made famous in The Shawshank Redemption and the Brindisi, or the Drinking Song, from Verdi’s La traviata. Rounding out Under the Stars’ packed program is a special guest performance from an acclaimed Australian musician who will be revealed closer to the concert.
This jam-packed performance is all to celebrate 40 years of Opera Queensland and to kick off the company’s 2021 season. The highly anticipated 2021 Season will be launched on the night by Opera Queensland’s artistic director and CEO, Patrick Nolan, with 2021 subscriptions available to purchase online following the concert.
