One Thousand and One Nights

One Thousand and One Nights

Join Southern Cross Soloists on a journey through the Middle East in a concert exploring the lure and mystic of the Orient.

From Telemann’s gypsies to Bloch’s portrayal of Jewish life, the highlight of this concert, Ravel’s Scheherazade will conjure up exotic images of Persian splendour and opulence in the enchanted tale of One Thousand and One Nights.

The Middle Eastern odyssey will continue with the world premiere of an exciting new work by Southern Cross Soloist Next Gen composer, John Rotar, and finish with some foot-stomping fun as the Soloists sweep you away in some exhilarating Klezmer Dances for an energising finish.

Program:

Telemann Gypsy Sonata TWV 42:d10
Bloch From Jewish Life
Rotar New Work (World Premiere)
Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade Op. 35
Various Klezmer Dances
