The Nikon-Walkley Awards for Excellence in Photojournalism is the preeminent prize for press photographers in Australia. In 2014 over 2000 photographs were up for consideration for the award, with the incredible field being gradually whittled down to a select few finalists. Over a range of categories that includes sport, daily life and news, photos from the past 12 months were collected and catalogued. Now, the finalists and winning photos are being showcased in a touring exhibition that will hit the Brisbane Powerhouse on March 24 and remain on display until April 26. Images include scenes of war from Afghanistan and Syria, photo essays on Australian life and monumental sporting images. Catch these iconic shots while they are in town.
