On Sunday October 2, The Triffid will play host to one of Brisbane’s largest roots-focused music festivals. Assembling a collection of some of the best musicians around town, The Newstead Roots Festival is the perfect event for those looking to while away a Sunday listening to some sublime roots, jazz and blues music. The event will be hosted by Triple J’s Sarah Howells and features performances from acts such as Bullhorn, Dubmarine, Cheap Fakes, Bobby Alu, Bearfoot, Leanne Tennant, Black Rabbit George & Claire-Anne Taylor and many more. From 1:00 pm to late, the Newstead Roots Festival will be the place to be if you are after some excellent live music – oh, and the event is free so it will assuredly be an inexpensive weekend highlight.
