Myriad
Myriad is a two and a half day festival bringing the world’s best technology, culture and ideas to the Brisbane Powerhouse from March 29–31 2017. Featuring world industry leaders appearing across eight stages and interactive exhibitions, Myriad is considered Australia’s answer to SXSW (USA) and Slush (HEL), and will see more than 100 world-leading local and international speakers explore and present issues of innovation to more than 2,000 attendees around five central themes: Future of Culture; Future of Health; Future of Money; Future of Cities and the Future of Work and Play. Under these themes, topics will range from the ‘The Intersection of Fashion, Robotics and Technology’ to ‘How artificial intelligence will affect mental health care’ to ‘Floating Cities: Building Humanity’s Next Frontier.’
The festival will run across eight stages, exhibitions and interactive spaces: The Power Stage; The Speakeasy; The Workshop; Startup Stage; The Gallery; Ideas City and more.
Crossing industry lines, the diverse lineup of innovation leaders unveiled as part of the three-day program includes Yiying Lu creative director of 500 Startups, John Henderson, Partner at Airtree Ventures, Prince Fahad Al Saud, founder and CEO of NA3AM and Bryony Cole, host and creator of The Future of Sex Podcast.
Alongside these speakers, Myriad will feature interactive experiences including internationally acclaimed art exhibition from Priya’s Shakti, which explores sexual violence and women’s rights through revolutionary use of augmented reality; a VR racing installation developed exclusively for Myriad by the Red Bull V8 team (with a special guest appearance from 6-time racing champion Jamie Whincup); and a series of unique collaborations developed with Australian music festival BIGSOUND.
