Author, Elisabeth Wheeler, will trace the history of the foundations of the O’Connor schools and Duporth and why it became a leading boarding and day school for girls in Brisbane and Queensland. Sharing rarely seen photographs or Janet O’Connor (first principal of Brisbane Girls Grammar School in 1875), the Duporth students and staff, and rare art by Duporth teachers and students. Elisabeth will also share the story of Dame Nellie Melba’s close friendship with the O’Connors of Duporth.
