Magpie Diaries with special guests Suicide Swans

Magpie Diaries with special guests Suicide Swans are set to perform at The Milk Factory.

Hunter Valley based soul country believers Magpie Diaries has released a second single from their debut full-length album Sanctuary. The 11-track album is a fresh release from the end of 2018. The band has performed at the acclaimed Woodford Folk festival and Nannup Festival in Western Australia. Magpie diaries is touring nationally from May to July in support of the release and video of ‘Honey.’

The Milk Factory in South Brisbane will host the artists on May 25 for a night of local story and song joined by local Suicide Swans. For those who haven’t got their hands on a copy of the liner notes inside the vinyl copy, the story of ‘Honey’ comes from the mind of a magpie as he passed by an elderly man selling honey by the side of the road.

Sanctuary delivers Magpie’s story via smooth soul country, with subtle flourishes of psychedelic rock and roll. The music draws on attributes from great acts such as Grateful Dead, Neil Young and Van Morrison, alongside modern artists like Cat Power and My Morning Jacket. Attendees will be taken on a journey where the desire to perform is matched with the desire to escape and unravel inside the music.

Tickets: $15
Event begins at 7:00 pm
