Join in on the fun and festivities that is Chinese New Year in Queen Street Mall on Friday January 24 and Saturday January 25. Check out the array of traditional dance, music and festive performances, when the mall will come alive with a celebration of Chinese culture. There will be traditional performances such as Bamboo Pole Dancing, an exhilarating group dance using bamboo poles, and the popular Lion and Dragon dances with performers dressing in vibrant and exciting costumes to the beat of traditional Chinese drums.

Friday January 24 5:00 pm – Bamboo Pole Dance. Location – outside Zara.
Sat January 25 12:00 pm – Lion dance. Location – outside Zara.
Sat January 25 2:00 pm– Bamboo Pole Dance. Location – outside Zara.
Sat January 25 4:00 pm – Dragon dance. Location – Mainstage Queen Street Mall outside Myer Centre.

The Chinese New Year – also known as the Lunar New Year – falls on Saturday January 25 and will be followed by 15 days of celebrations marking the transition from the Year of the Pig to the Year of the Rat.
