Lord Mayor’s Photographic Awards
Photographers of all ages and experience levels – it’s time to get snapping for the Lord Mayor’s Photographic Awards 2020!
This beloved annual competition is open to people who live, work and study in Brisbane – from novices to professionals, everyone is welcome to have a shot at the amazing prizes on offer. The awards are an opportunity to be involved in capturing Brisbane’s character by photographing moments that reflect this year’s theme ‘Suburban Life’.
There are seven categories that you can enter into – as well as several different cash prizes to be won – including the new environmentally-focussed Green Heart category (with a first prize taking of $1500), the Open category (with the winner taking $5000, the first runner-up $2000 and the second runner-up $1000), and the Student category (with a prize of $1500). There’s also the People’s Choice category, which is decided by a public vote ($1500) and the Social Media category ($1500). Budding participants are encouraged to enter using this form through the Council’s website or by using the Instagram hashtag #LMPA2020.
Fun fact – last year’s awards saw Brisbane City Council receive more than 1,100 Instagram entries, 1,245 website entries and hundreds of votes in the People’s Choice category.
