Lord Mayor’s Children’s Program
Two fun and free productions will take over Brisbane City Hall this December and January as part of the Lord Mayor’s Children’s Program. The program will kick off with an opera extravaganza on Tuesday December 12. A captivating collaboration between Opera Queensland and Shake and Stir Theatre Co., FIZZ! will introduce the magic of opera to a younger demographic of fans. Based on the classic comedy opera The Elixir of Love by Donizetti, this reimagined performance follows a teenage love triangle that is filled with twists, turns, magical melodies and enchanting young performers. This weird, whacky and wonderful production will include audio descriptions, an Auslan interpreter and a tactile tour, allowing blind and low vision visitors to touch the props and costumes while the cast and crew describe the visual elements of the production. Then in January, prepare your vocal chords for the musical movie production I Like to Movie Movie, premiering on Tuesday January 16. This dance-inducing display will feature iconic songs from musical classics such as The Lion King, Shrek, Matilda, Aladdin, Frozen, Hairspray, Trolls and The Sound of Music, which are sure to have the whole family on their feet. I Like to Movie Movie will also be Auslan interpreted, ensuring everyone can join in on the musical fun.
