‘Landmarks’, an exhibition by one of Australia’s greatest living landscape painters, Jeff Makin, will open on Friday 6th May at Mitchell Fine Art in Fortitude Valley.

‘Landmarks’ will be Jeff Makin’s first exhibition in Brisbane in over 22 years. The exhibition is comprised mainly of works that have been inspired by a number of painting trips to Queensland and Northern New South Wales over the past 12 months.

Hailed as one of Australia’s greatest living landscape artists, Jeff Makin is best known for his en plein air paintings that follows in the tradition of the Australian Colonial painters.

Makin has exhibited both Nationally and Internationally from the early 1960’s. He is represented in all National, State and most Regional collections.

Makin was the winner of the Gold Coast Art Prize in 1971 and the Brisbane Tattersalls Art Prize in 1992 and has been a finalist in the Tattersalls prize from 2008 – 2011.

This sublime collection of Australian Landscapes by one of the countries most respected artists will open at 6pm Friday 6th May, with Jeff Makin in attendance.

Jeff Makin will also conduct an artist talk on Saturday 7th May at 2pm.

The exhibition will be on display at Mitchell Fine Art in Fortitude Valley from May 4th through May 28th. The gallery is open 6 days a week, Monday to Friday 10am to 5.30pm and Saturday 10am to 5pm.
