La Boite HWY

HWY is La Boite’s annual festival of ideas, boasting two weeks of showing, workshops, masterclasses and more.

The HWY Performance Program will showcase six new works in development, an evening of new pieces created by a collective of Brisbane-based emerging artists, the inaugural HWY Keynote, and so much more. In 2019, HWY artists are working across stage and screen mediums, telling stories and making works that are critical to our arts sector – this is the future of theatre in Brisbane.

The festival kicks off in style with a rolling conversation featuring a line-up of high-profile speakers including the phenomenal Clem Ford, Betty Grumble, Kerrin Benson and Veronica Fury moderated by Louise Bezzina. These powerhouse women will be discussing the value of the arts from all different angles, bringing their unique perspectives to what will no doubt be an enriching discussion.

Performance Program highlights include a Backbone Double-Bill – Absolute Objectivity and Ride, as well as Stories of Systematic Racism – a collection of rap, music, and spoken word led by Voices of Colour’s Anisa Nandaula and Jonathan Sri. More information and the full program can be found over at the La Boite website.
