Kyo-Wa (Harmonic Resonance) Live Brisbane Powerhouse
On November 30, Brisbane Powerhouse will come alive with the sounds of cultural harmony as JADE Ensemble, an Asian-Australian fusion ensemble, premieres their ground-breaking new work, 響和 Kyo-Wa (Harmonic Resonance). This concert represents the culmination of months of intense improvisation and collaboration, between JADE artists Indigenous didgeridoo artist David Williams, Nepalese virtuoso Dheeraj Shrestha, Japanese koto master Takako Haggarty and guitarist/composer Anthony Garcia.
Kyo-Wa is more than just a concert; it’s an exploration of how diverse traditions and artistic philosophies can merge to create music that resonates with all cultures. Over nine intensive sessions, JADE crafted a fresh program through a mix of improvisation and spontaneous creativity, capturing the essence of each artist’s cultural heritage while forging new musical pathways as a collective.
This premiere is set to be a powerful display of intercultural collaboration in today’s complex, contemporary society. The event is not only a showcase of JADE’s musical talents but also a testament to the potential for music to unite people across cultural divides.
JADE’s commitment to inclusivity extends beyond their music. The premiere concert will be held in a barrier-free venue ensuring an accessible experience for individuals with visual impairments, autism, sensory sensitivities and anxiety. Additionally, JADE will host an open rehearsal/workshop and mini concert for students with disabilities, furthering their mission to make music accessible to everyone.
Join JADE on Saturday November 30, 2024, at Brisbane Powerhouse for an evening of innovative music that bridges cultures, celebrates diversity and sets the stage for a future of harmonious collaboration.
