Kristian Williams has been the hottest artist on the Brisbane art circuit since his smash-hit/sell-out exhibition, Bold and Unbridled at the Mercure Hotel in March. Since then REDSEA Gallery is proud to have acquired Williams to their stable of talents, and it is with much excitement that we present this latest body of work.

A recipient of the Minister’s Award for Art Excellence in 2003 Kristian has always been fascinated by the neo-expressionist movement, drawing inspiration from such talent as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Norris Embry while tapping into his own unique sense of artistic style, colour-coding and rhythm. His use of bold colours and violent emotive lines create daring statement pieces, contrasted against quirky, tongue-in-cheek pictorialisations of human soul. The artist also regularly references mythological, cultural and surrealist themes in works he has painted after waking up from a dream and immediately putting down on canvas what he’s just experienced in his sleep.
