Knit Your Bit Saturdays

Knit Your Bit Saturdays

Join The Stitchery Collective for group craft to crochet, construct and decorate an ever-growing comforter this Saturday 18 July. Enjoy the beautiful SLQ Gallery surrounds and connect with fellow crafters in this free, hands-on activity. With all materials provided and no experience required, participants are encouraged to simply bring along a whole lot of buzzing enthusiasm.

Keep a lookout for a massive rainbow comforter positioned on the grass outside the SLQ main entrance. Make sure to check out the ‘From home, With Love’ installation by The Stitchery Collective when you visit, to explore the role of comfort that material objects and crafting played in keeping loved ones connected during WW1. This activity and installation is part of Distant Lines: Queensland voices of the First World War, exploring the unique Queensland experience of the war — before, during, and after.
