Kirsty Bruce creates finely detailed portraits in watercolour and pencil. She draws on an array of pop culture sources for her images, most frequently painting images from the pages of fashion magazines that capture her interest. In painting, Bruce liberates her subjects from their original context and then arranges them en masse on a gallery wall — giving them the weight of scale and numbers, but also leaving her subjects looking exposed and vulnerable.

Kirsty will be exhibiting a collection of work at Milani Gallery from April 24 to May 9.
