Jess Hitchcock – Unbreakable

Jess Hitchcock – Unbreakable

Having toured and performed with the likes of Kate Miller-Heidke, Paul Kelly, Tina Arena and Archie Roach, Jess Hitchcock is set to shine in her own spotlight when she performs Unbreakable at Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC).

Jess is an award-winning Indigenous opera singer, composer and singer-songwriter, with family origins from Saibai in the Torres Strait and Papua New Guinea.

Over the past six years she has toured extensively around Australia with Kate Miller-Heidke, and in 2019 went with Kate to the Eurovision song contest in Israel. She then toured with Paul Kelly’s Making Gravy Tour, and was part of Music From The Home Front in 2021, singing a duet version of ‘Sorrento Moon’ alongside Tina Arena.

Over the past decade, she has also performed in productions from Opera Australia, Victorian Opera and Short Black Opera. In 2016, She received a Broadway World award for best supporting actress in an opera for her creation of the role of ‘Alice’ in Pecan Summer at the Sydney Opera House.

Her show at RPAC will be an intimate and acoustic performance of songs from her upcoming album ‘Unbreakable’, plus fan favourites from her previous album ‘Bloodline’. The performance centres on themes of resilience and change, with a collection of original songs that will exquisitely demonstrate Jess’ spellbinding prowess as a singer-songwriter.

Jess will feature on vocals and keys, accompanied by leading musicians Cristian Barbieri (Jessica Mauboy, Goldlink, Brockhampton) on guitar and backing vocals, and spellbinding violinist Xani (Come From Away and AU Review Best Live Instrumentalist award nominee).
