Jams for #OneMillionStars Project

St Finbarr’s School in Ashgrove is joining the revolution to put a stop to violence and calling on the community to be part of their Star Weave Jams in support of the global One Million Stars initiative.

The One Million Stars to End Violence project aims to engage communities in a conversation about ending violence, and ultimately creating a show-stopping installation made up of one million stars, which will be displayed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Each star is a symbol of light, courage and solidarity and the final installation will be a collective statement against ending all forms of violence, and show how much can be achieved when we work together as a community.

St Finbarr’s aims to weave 1,000 stars before July, and is calling on the local community to join their ‘Star Weave Jams’ to be held at Arthur’s Green, Red Hill. The school will provide all the materials and tools required, so ‘star weavers’ just need to turn up, join in the fun, and have the unique opportunity to be part of Commonwealth Games history.

No stars are too many, with any stars additional to the 1,000 required for the project destined for display at the school’s 14th annual Fashions on Parade event in August.

To join the Star Weave Jams, book online through Eventbrite or contact Jenny Fitzpatrick at [email protected] for more information. To learn more about the One Million Stars project, visit the website.
