He Dreamed a Train

The compelling, heart-warming and beautiful story of a sister and her brother as they face his premature death.

A family’s joys and challenges are revealed in this special show by one of Brisbane’s theatre treasures, Margi Brown Ash together with her son Travis Ash.

Returning to the family home, childhood memories and the human depths of love and loss are explored through words full of wisdom and big picture thinking. This is contemporary theatre at its best: a deeply personal story where the show is named after brother David Brown’s book by the same name.

Multi-award winning artist Margi Brown Ash and acclaimed director Benjamin Knapton join forces to present a re working of this show combining stunning digital projection and beautifully told storytelling.

In a Brisbane first, Margi Brown Ash will perform two of her shows back to back in a rare Double Bill performance, exclusively for Brisbane audiences – the acclaimed He Dreamed a Train and her award-winning Eve. Be sure to check out Double Bill options under “Packages.”

Both He Dreamed a Train and Eve explore the difficulty of belonging when faced with the ruptures of illness and death.

He Dreamed a Train has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body, and is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council.

Supported by Metro Arts and Playlab.
