Handel’s Israel in Egypt
Handel’s dramatic and evocative choral masterpiece Israel in Egypt is being performed in Brisbane for the first time in more than 30 years. Though composed in 1738, it is a work for our time, when displacement and humanitarian crises are all too common. Don’t miss the chance to hear this work with well known conductor and classical music personality Graham Abbott leading the combined forces of premier choirs Brisbane Chorale and Canticum (Music Director, Emily Cox), the incomparable chamber orchestra Camerata, and a cast of stellar soloists. To open the concert, renowned organist Christopher Wrench plays movements from Handel’s sparkling Organ Concerto No 13. Prior to the performance, Graham Abbott will present a pre-concert talk.
