Brisbane’s Grand Central Hotel on Ann Street, opposite the shrine of Remembrance will be unveiling a large art display on the facade of the hotel for two weeks. Hundreds of larger than life poppies, that move with the wind, have been constructed by school children from a variety of Brisbane schools. The Hotel, a living reminder of a grand age of glamorous rail travel, has quietly undergone a major renovation and is a hub for local workers, rail commuters and the many war veterans who claim it as their meeting place.
