“Glossolalia is a phenomenon where a person speaks a language unknown to them. It’s generally considered a language of syllable-like speech that lacks any readily comprehendible meaning. When I am creating a painting I often feel I’m engaging in a type of visual glossolalia. I hope viewers can transcend the confusion which is deliberately at play and engage in sense of visual glossolalia.”

RYAN DAFFURN

Ryan Daffurn’s paintings are created in the shadow of great historical artworks and were conceived while he was on the fringe of a foreign society that he didn’t quite understand. “This body of work portrays my personal journey in those years – attempting to understand my place and the direction of my work.”
